Recycle your old green bins with the Region of Waterloo

Get a head start on spring cleaning with the Region of Waterloo by recycling or reusing your old green bin.

The region is one month into its new waste management system, with results improving week by week, according to Deanna Dakin, supervisor of projects and policy for the region’s Waste Management Division.

Throughout April and into May, the region is collecting your old green bins for recycling.

The municipality will be hosting drop-off events at the following locations around the cities and townships:

  • April 11, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.: Waterloo City Hall (Parking Lot)
  • April 12, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.: North Dumfries Community Complex (Parking Lot)
  • April 18, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.: Breslau Community Centre (Parking Lot)
  • April 19, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.: Wellesley Recreation Complex (Parking Lot)
  • April 25, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.: Wilmot Recreation Complex (Parking Lot)
  • April 26, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.: Cambridge Farmers’ Market (Parking Lot)
  • May 2, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.: Activa Sports Complex (Parking Lot)

You can also drop off your old green bin at either of the region’s waste management centres in Waterloo or Cambridge during operating hours.

Dakin noted that, if you wish to keep the old green bins, you can use them to hold your yard waste, or even repurpose them in the garden.
