Some carts still full as waste collection continues Monday

Even though the new waste collection system in Waterloo Region does not have Monday collection, the trucks will still be out at the beginning of the week, collecting carts that were left full.

The Region of Waterloo posted on its social media channels that some neighbourhoods scheduled for Friday collection were missed, and are asking for those carts to be out Monday morning by 7 a.m. for collection.

Last week marked the first few days of the new collection system, which came with a few bumps and bruises.

Most notably, the large carts were collected a day or two late, or not at all.

The new trucks continued collection on Saturday as well, with additional trucks brought in to help.

Some areas reported black garbage carts collected, but the green organics carts stayed full at the end of their driveways.

“If your black cart was emptied but your green cart was not: Some of the extra trucks we brought in this week collect organics and garbage separately. If your black cart has been collected but your green cart has not, please leave your green cart at the curb. A separate truck will return to collect it,” read a social media post from the Region of Waterloo.

Regional officials are asking for patience as the new system rolls out, and drivers continue to learn not only the new routes but also the new trucks.
