Guelph house fire under investigation, one person seriously hurt

A house fire in Guelph has sent a woman to a trauma centre, while investigators try to work out exactly how it happened.

Guelph Police and the Guelph Fire Department said it happened around noon, Sunday, on York Road, near Morris Street, in the Stevenson Street South area.

Police say firefighters rescued one woman from the house.

Police said she was taken to a trauma centre in Hamilton with serious injuries.

York Road was closed around the scene of the fire for about two hours.

Both Guelph fire officials, and the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal are investigating the cause of the fire.

There’s no word yet if this fire is considered suspicious or not.
