Pedestrian struck by GO bus in Waterloo

A pedestrian has been injured after they were struck by a GO bus in Waterloo.
The collision was reported Monday afternoon on Phillip Street between Columbia Street West and University Avenue West.
Initially, police called it a pedestrian-involved collision and said the pedestrian was injured.
A police spokesperson later confirmed the involved vehicle was a GO bus. Metrolinx said in a statement, “Following an incident this afternoon near the University of Waterloo, EMS transported an individual to a local hospital. The incident is currently being investigated.”
Police have since identified the pedestrian as a 22-year-old Waterloo man, who was transported to an out-of-region hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the GO bus, a 57-year-old Mississauga man, did not sustain any injuries.
