Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) closed all eastbound lanes of Highway 401 at Oxford Road 29 on Thursday following a fatal crash.
The collision was reported around 7 a.m. and involved two transport trucks.
An OPP spokesperson confirmed to 570 NewsRadio that one driver was killed.
“Fire and paramedic services, as well as Oxford OPP members, arrived on scene and located a CMV (Commercial Motor Vehicle) that had collided with the rear of another CMV while travelling in the eastbound lanes.” said Constable Matthew Foster. “The driver of the CMV that collided with the rear of the other was unfortunately pronounced deceased at scene.”
The deceased has been identified as a 26-year-old Brampton man.
Foster said that the driver of the other involved transport truck was not injured.
Eastbound lanes of the 401 were closed for about 10 hours between Oxford Road 29 and Cedar Creek Road following the collision.
While the closure cleared shortly after 5:30 p.m., OPP continue to investigate the collision and there’s no update on charges.
