Drunk driver arrested in Kitchener: WRPS

An alleged drunk driver in Kitchener is now facing several charges after attempting to flee from police.

On October 30 around 9:30 p.m. in the area of Ottawa Street North and Weber Street East when officers found a 31-year-old man slumped over in the driver’s seat in a running vehicle.

They also found several bottles within reach of the driver.

The man then tried to get away, where he allegedly backed into a police cruiser and drove over a curb before being arrested

No physical injuries resulted from the incident.

The man is now facing numerous charges including the following:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration
  • Dangerous operation
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assaulting a peace officer with intent to resist
  • Multiple offences under the Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Licence and Control Act’

He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
