Drunk driver unharmed after crashing into tree, charges laid

A Cambridge resident is now facing drunk driving charges after their vehicle collided with a tree in Grey Highlands this morning.

It was around 1:18 a.m. when OPP said that their officers with the Grey Bruce detachment responded to a reported single-vehicle crash on Grey Road 30, just west of Grey Road 13.

Police said that the driver of that vehicle, a 29-year-old from Cambridge, lost control of their vehicle and struck a tree.

OPP say thankfully, no injuries were reported – though charges have since been laid, including:

  • Operation while Impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while Impaired – 80 plus
  • Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle

A 90-day licence suspension and seven day vehicle impoundment were also issued, while the driver is expected to appear in court in Owen Sound on Nov. 13.
