Two people from Guelph are facing charges in connection with a home-invasion-style robbery.
Guelph police were called to an apartment building near Watson Parkway North and Starwood Drive around 2 a.m. Sunday.
The male victim told police several people had entered his apartment and dragged him out of bed. He said he was sprayed with bear spray, and his wallet and a diamond ring were stolen.
He also said the culprits said they had a gun, but the weapon was not seen.
Prior to the robbery, security video captured three men getting out of a black sedan and meeting with a woman who was waiting there.
Minutes later, all four are seen running from the building and speeding away from the area in the sedan.
Police say a few hours after the incident, a 35-year-old Guelph woman was arrested. She was charged with break and enter, robbery, assault with a weapon and administering a noxious substance.
On Tuesday morning, police saw a man riding a motorized scooter in the area of Delaware Avenue and Mohawk Drive. Officers recognized him as a suspect wanted in connection with the home invasion, as well as an earlier incident in September.
When police stopped the man, they said the scooter was stolen on Sunday from outside a nearby business.
“A search revealed four tightly-wrapped packages of cocaine and other controlled substances,” the press release reads.
As a result, the accused is facing charges of robbery, assault, break and enter, administer a noxious substance and offences in connection to trafficking.

It was around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday when officers spotted a man riding a motorized scooter in the area of Delaware Avenue and Mohawk Drive, alleged to be wanted in connection with this incident as well as a separate disturbance dating back to September.
That man was stopped, leading police to discover that the scooter had actually been stolen from a nearby business on Sunday. The 31-year-old was also found to be in possession of four tightly-wrapped packages of cocaine, alongside other controlled substances.
That Guelph man has since been charged with the following offences:
- Robbery (two counts)
- Assault with a weapon (two counts)
- Break and enter
- Administer a noxious substance
- Mischief under $5,000
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking
- Possessing stolen property
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
