Suspect arrested in Waterloo vehicle theft

An investigation into a stolen vehicle in Waterloo just before the weekend has led to an arrest by Waterloo Regional Police.

On Friday, August 22, around 3:10 p.m., regional police received a report of a stolen vehicle being tracked in the area of Erb Street West and Ira Needles Boulevard.

They managed to track down the vehicle and place the suspect under arrest.

A 44-year-old man from Newmarket now faces multiple charges including:

  • Dangerous operation
  • Possession of stolen property over $5,000
  • Possession of stolen property under $5,000
  • Four counts of operating a Conveyance while prohibited
  • Possess identity documents
  • Fail to stop after accident

The suspect was held for a bail hearing and the investigation is ongoing.
