An Investigation into the cause of a fatal collision in Waterloo on Thursday afternoon, right near Wilfrid Laurier University, is still underway through Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS).

It happened Aug. 14 at around 3:40 p.m., as police said a vehicle collided with a hydro pole in the area of Albert Street and Seagram Drive.

When emergency services arrived, they found the 24-year-old man who was driving the vehicle, rushing him off to a local hospital for treatment, where he later died of his injuries.

The corner of the intersection was closed for multiple hours to allow crews to begin repairs to the damaged utility pole and for police to begin their initial investigation at the scene.

At this time, officers said the exact cause of the collision is still not known, with WRPS now reaching out to the public for assistance.

It’s asking anyone who saw the crash or has dash-cam footage of it to give them a call at 519-570-9777, extension 8856.
