KW Oktoberfest looking to expand into Cambridge and townships

It’s not wrong to call KW Oktoberfest the biggest event of the year for the region, but now its looking to make that description a bit more literal.

Darryl Fletcher, better known as Chef D, was elected as the President of KW Oktoberfest in March and is looking to help grow the festival in the future.

With this year’s festivities only a little over a month away, changes won’t be in place this time around.

There are still plenty of things to enjoy at this year’s Oktoberfest, including the new Sticks and Steins ball hockey tournament and the usual festivities at venues like Bingemans or Concordia Club.

But Chef D is already planning more for Cambridge as well as the surrounding townships, with a meeting scheduled with the mayor of Cambridge as well as plans to meet with the mayors of North Dumfires and Woolwich.

Speaking on the Mike Farwell Show, Chef D spoke about the importance of expanding to the regions for the festival.

“The regions support us by coming here, let’s go there sometimes.” He said. “I think as a festival, you have to change, you have to evolve. Or you know you’ll kind of be looking backwards and going ‘hmm, we should have.’ So this is where I’m thinking and would love to take it.”

KW Oktoberfest kicks off on Sept. 18.
