Too many tow truck drivers, and too much conflict between them took over the police investigation of a collision in Cambridge.
Waterloo Regional Police were called out to a two-vehicle crash at about 2:15, Thursday afternoon, on Franklin Boulevard near Mill Creek Road.
Police said their officers got to the scene and found seven tow trucks from four different companies already there, some of which were blocking the northbound lanes of traffic.
Officers had to break up a physical altercation between two of the tow drivers.
And police said none of those tow trucks had been called by either of the drivers involved in the crash, or by police.
In the end, it was the tow drivers who were charged with 21 counts under under the Highway Traffic Act and the Towing and Storage Safety and Enforcement Act.
And police said one of the tow trucks was found to be unsafe, and was taken out of service.
Police remind all drivers that “tow truck drivers and companies are not permitted to attend collision scenes or solicit business unless they have been requested by the involved parties or police.”
