OPP responded to the Guelph Airpark on Skyway Drive on Friday afternoon after an aircraft flipped over shortly after landing.
“When emergency services arrived, we found there was an aircraft – a single engine plane – that was tipped forward on its nose,” said Wellington County OPP Constable Kirk MacDonald.
The pilot exited the plane on his own and walked away unharmed.
“It could have been much worse,” MacDonald said.
OPP cleared the scene shortly after 3 p.m.
Transport Canada and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre were notified about the incident.
It’s the second time in just over three weeks that OPP have responded to the Guelph Airpark because of a flipped over plane.
On June 25, officials were called about an overturned plane on the runway.
In that incident witnesses came to the aid of the pilot who was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
“It’s likely purely coincidence that we had two small aircrafts in a short period of time have mishaps,” MacDonald said. “However, it’s not uncommon I think at other smaller airports that they do have these types of incidents from time to time.”
