Waterloo regional police are appealing for witnesses, as they continue to investigate a crash that claimed the life of a woman in Woolwich, near St. Jacobs.
It was around 4:45 p.m. on Monday when emergency crews were called out to the area of Sawmill Road in Woolwich, just east of Arthur Street South, for reports of a crash between a sedan and an SUV.
Police said a 73-year-old Waterloo woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 19-year-old man from Woolwich Township was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police have not specified which vehicle either individual was occupying at the time of the crash.
Road closures were put in place on Sawmill Road between New Jerusalem Road and Northfield Road East for the initial investigation. That road closure has since been lifted.
Regional police also deployed a remote piloted vehicle in the area just after 6 p.m. on Monday to assist in their investigation.
It’s unclear if any charges will be laid as a result of the crash, though the investigation is still ongoing.
