Cyclist struck by GO train in Guelph

A cyclist sustained serious injuries after being struck by a GO train in Guelph.
In a statement, Metrolinx confirmed that a person was struck by a train early Monday morning near the Guelph GO station.
Trains were halted after the incident. GO buses were brought in to shuttle customers until service resumed.
570 NewsRadio has since learned the incident involved a cyclist.
“Guelph Wellington Paramedics attended an accident at a level crossing where a train had collided with a cyclist in the downtown Guelph area,” Stephen Dewar, Chief of the Guelph Wellington Paramedic Service, said in a statement.
According to Dewar, the male cyclist was very seriously injured. He was transported to a Hamilton trauma centre for treatment.
