Youth arrested in connection to gunshots fired in Kitchener

Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a youth in connection to a shooting incident that happened in Kitchener on June 5.

It happened around 8:35 p.m. when officers were called to the area of Monte Carlo Street and Victoria Street south for reports of gunshots.

Police determined that a group of youths were outside a residential complex in the area when they were approached by a male suspect. Police say he fired multiple gunshots into the ground before running away.

No physical injuries were sustained.

On June 7, police executed a search warrant at a residence in the area of Strasburg Road and Kingswood Drive and arrested a male youth.

The 13-year-old Kitchener male has been charged with multiple firearms-related offences, including:

  • Two counts of point firearm;
  • Discharge firearm with intent – endanger life;
  • Utter threats to cause death or bodily harm;
  • Carrying concealed weapon;
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose;
  • Unauthorized possession of firearm;
  • Firearm or weapon – possession contrary to a prohibitions order; and
  • Two counts of failure to comply with sentence or disposition.
