Sexual assault, forcible confinement charges for Waterloo man

Serious charges have been laid in connection to a disturbing incident in downtown Kitchener earlier this month.

Waterloo regional police have been investigating an alleged sexual assault in Kitchener, from 2:00 a.m. on May 20, at a business around Charles Street East and Queen Street South.

They said a female victim was sexually assaulted, suffering minor injuries.

There were no arrests at the time, but police sent out a suspect description. Officials now say the suspect was arrested on Thursday.

They say a 29-year-old man from Waterloo was facing one count each of sexual assault cause bodily harm, and forcible confinement.

Police released no details about how or where the victim was allegedly confined.
