Wilmot Family Resource Centre rebrands to better reflect catchment area

After more than 40 years, a local charity in Wilmot township will be getting a new name.

The Wilmot Family Resource Centre announced they will be changing their name to the Wilmot & Wellesley Family Resource Centre. In a statement released this week, the centre said the change will better reflect the area in which it covers, which is more than just inside Wilmot Township.

“We wanted our name to more accurately reflect our mandate – which is not limited to families but includes everyone,” Trisha Robinson, Executive Director of the Wilmot and Wellesley Resource Centre, said in a press release. “Individuals, seniors, Indigenous people, unhoused people, everyone can access our services or attend our programs”

The charity will work alongside Woolwich Community Services to provide programs such as food support for those in need in Wellesley Township, with WWRC covering the southern half of the township from Lobsinger Line.

A new website will also go along with the rebrand, which the centre says was partially funded by the Government of Canada’s Community Services Recovery Fund.

In the 2023-2024 service year, the WWRC handed out over 3,340 food hampers and 905 counselling sessions.
