Hit-and-run downs hydro pole, closes King in Cambridge

An emergency road closure has been rolled out in Cambridge after a hit-and-run collision.
While details are limited, Waterloo regional police say officers are now on the scene of a hit-and-run in the area of King Street East in Cambridge. The roadway has been closed between Brown Street and Bishop Street, with reports of downed power lines in the area.
No injuries have been reported as a result of that crash.
Providing an update on Tuesday morning, police said it was around 7:45 a.m. when they received a report of the hit-and-run involving a dump truck, downing hydro wires.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing – anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
Crews are on scene conducting repair work, though that stretch of King Street East is expected to be closed for several hours.


Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
Grand River Transit has also put an emergency detour in place for Route 50 Dundas-Myers and 206 iXpress Coronation, impacting stops 1591 and 1622.
