14-year-old charged with sexual assault in Elmira area trail incident

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with sexual assault in an incident that occurred on a walking trail near Elmira.

Waterloo regional police were contacted Thursday afternoon by a woman who said she’d been assaulted on the trail at the Woolwich Reservoir, off Reid Woods Drive.

She told police it was a male youth riding a bicycle.

She was not hurt physically.

Police say a 14-year-old from Woolwich Township was arrested Monday.

He was charged with two counts of sexual assault.

The WRPS Special Victims Unit is still investigating – anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
