Police make arrest after armed robbery in Waterloo

An arrest has been made by Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) after an armed commercial robbery in Waterloo.

Police say it happened Sunday, when officers were called to a business in the area of King Street North and Northfield Drive East.

They say a known man entered the business and stole various products off the shelves. When confronted by staff, he allegedly brandished a knife and fled the store.

When officers arrived on the scene, they were quickly able to locate and arrest the 35-year-old Waterloo man.


The man has now been charged with:

  • Robbery with a weapon;
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; and
  • Failure to comply with probation order.

He was held in police custody for a bail hearing.

The investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with further information is asked to call WRPS or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers.
