Ahead of Victoria Day, Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) is continuing to investigate a robbery of a fireworks vendor in Kitchener, involving over half a dozen youths.
Police say they were called Saturday evening at around 9 p.m. to a possible disturbance at a parking lot in the area of Highland Road West and Fischer-Hallman Road. When officers arrived, they found that anywhere from six to 10 youths had entered a trailer selling fireworks.
After the initial investigation, police learned several of the young teenagers had allegedly stolen fireworks, as well as assaulted and threatened staff members who were inside.
The employees, a 25-year-old man and a 26-year-old man, both suffered minor injuries.
Officers are now saying none of the youths involved have been apprehended, with an investigation still underway. They say the group of youths was last seen fleeing the scene on foot down Fischer-Hallman Road.
Regional police are asking anyone who has information on the incident to give them a call or to reach out anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
