Strangulation and other charges laid after assault in Waterloo

Charges of assault with a weapon and strangulation have been laid after an alleged assault in Waterloo.

Waterloo regional police said it happened soon after 5:30 p.m., Sunday, near Weber Street North and Milford Avenue, near King Street.

Police said some kind of argument lead to an assault, with a victim sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A 34-year old man from Waterloo was charged with assault with a weapon; assault cause bodily harm; and assault cause bodily harm – strangulation.

Investigators said the victim and the accused man know each other. Police do not specify the age or gender of the victim.
