Cash taken from Kitchener temple, one month after attempted break-and-enter

A temple in Kitchener that was previously targeted in an attempted break-and-enter has been targeted once again.

Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a break-and-enter they say happened Friday morning, around 5:30.

Police say an unknown male broke into a place of worship in the area of McIntyre Drive and Strasburg Road in Kitchener, and stole cash, and fled the area in a blue SUV.

The suspect is described as a white male, wearing a blue hoodie, jeans and black shoes.

Investigators say they believe the incident was targeted.

Police also confirm to 570 NewsRadio this is the same temple that was targeted in an attempted break-and-enter, along with a temple in Cambridge, back in late-March.

But they do not believe the two crimes involve the same suspect.

Police are asking businesses in the area of the Kitchener temple to check their security cameras for suspicious persons, vehicles or activity between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. on April 25.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 519-570-9777, or reach out anonymously to Crime Stoppers at at 1-800-222-8477 or by clicking here.
