The Kitchener Rangers are on the edge of elimination from the OHL playoffs after a crushing 6-3 defeat against the Windsor Spitfires at The Aud on Monday.
The Blueshirts now trail the Round 2 series against the Spitfires 3-0, and will be eliminated if they fail to win on Wednesday.
Windsor forward Liam Greentree was the star of the contest and recorded an incredible 5 goals against the Rangers, adding to his OHL-leading 24 playoff points.
“They can’t worry about winning four games off the hop; they have to win one, then win two,” said 570’s Colour Commentator Paul Fixter about the mountain the Rangers have to climb to claw their way back into the series. “They can break it down even further, within five or 10 minutes of the game, let’s go win the first 10 minutes, then let’s go win the next 10 minutes, then you win a period and build off that.”
The Spitfires were disciplined on Monday night, and held the Rangers to just one opportunity on the man-advantage.
The two sides return to The Aud on Wednesday for Game 4. If the Rangers win, they’ll make the trip to Windsor for Game 5 on Friday.
