Travel advisory issued for snow Monday afternoon

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

It could be a rough afternoon for drivers as snowy weather prompted a travel advisory.

Environment Canada says a brief burst of heavy snow is expected Monday afternoon, along with gusty winds and falling temperatures. The conditions could lead to reduced visibility on roadways in Waterloo Region and in the surrounding area.

“Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions,” reads the weather alert. “If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.”

Environment Canada says up to 2 cm of snow is possible from the cold front.

The latest weather alert comes after last week’s messy forecast that included freezing rain, rainfall, and snow.

The significant precipitation resulted in flood warnings locally, which were terminated by the Grand River Conservation Authority on Monday.
