Stolen vehicle involved in Guelph crash, Kitchener man arrested

A vehicle that was stolen from Waterloo Region was involved in a dramatic crash in Guelph, and a Kitchener man was arrested.
Guelph police were called to Gosling Gardens Wednesday morning shortly after 9:30 a.m. due to reports of a a three-vehicle collision.
Witnesses said a speeding sedan struck a stop sign before the driver lost control, left the roadway, and then hit a recycling cart. Pieces of the cart reportedly hit a parked car and a nearby home, causing damage to both.
“The Cadillac then struck two vehicles parked in a driveway, causing extensive damage to both, before striking and uprooting a tree and coming to rest on its side,” read a release from the Guelph Police Service. “Witnesses saw a male with blood on his face exit the Cadillac and run into a backyard.”
Officers determined the silver Cadillac sedan was stolen earlier that morning.
The driver of the stolen vehicle was arrested after a police dog found him hiding in a tarp. He was identified as a 39-year-old Kitchener man who was sent to a Hamilton hospital with minor injuries.
No other injuries were reported relating to the crash.
The Kitchener man is facing several charges including motor vehicle theft, dangerous driving, and impaired driving.
