Arrest made after Cambridge woman hits police cruiser trying to flee

A Cambridge driver has been arrested by regional police for impaired driving after they hit a police cruiser over the weekend.

It happened Friday around 7:10 p.m. when Waterloo Regional Police Services (WRPS) received reports of suspicious impaired driving in the area of Lowrey Avenue South and Ballantyne Avenue.

Police located the black Tesla seen driving recklessly, they tried to conduct a traffic stop which resulted in the driver colliding with the police cruiser. No physical injuries were reported.

Regional police report that the Tesla was connected to another collision that occurred on Concession Street.

They arrested the 29-year-old woman at the scene, who has been charged with impaired driving, failure to stop, flight from police and dangerous operation.

A court appearance is scheduled for April. Anyone who may have witnessed the suspected impaired driving in Cambridge is asked to contact police “immediately.”
