Elizabeth Ziegler Public School closed for structural testing

Concerns about the façade of Waterloo elementary school have the building closed for at least two days this week.
The Waterloo District Public School Board (WRDSB) said structural testing will take place Tuesday and Wednesday at Elizabeth Ziegler Public School on Moore Avenue South.
The board said next steps will be sent out to parents sometime before Thursday, March 6.

Over the two-day closure, students will be learning virtually from home.
Around 450 students attend the JK to Grade 6 school.
A release from the WRDSB said the closure was made “out of an abundance of caution for the safety and well-being of students and staff…We know that a school closure can be disruptive for students and families. Staff and contractors are working to open the school safely and as quickly as possible.”
Before and After School programs at the school are also closed for Tuesday and Wednesday (March 4 and 5).
