By CityNews Kitchener Staff

Police are investigating an attempted smash-and-grab style robbery at a jewellery store in Guelph.

Officers responded to the targeted store in the Speedvale Avenue East and Stevenson Street North area on Tuesday, around 1:45 p.m.

According to Guelph police, four suspects used hammers to break the store’s glass front door. Once inside, they smashed display cases, but police say it was not believed anything was taken. Another suspect waited in the vehicle and fled the scene in a black Acura TLX sedan, that was reported stolen from Peel Region.

There were no reported injuries resulting from the robbery.

The suspects are described as:

  1. Black male, average build, wearing a grey Reebok hoodie, black jogging pants, black shoes, gloves, a toque and a face covering, carrying a hammer
  2. Black male, heavy build, black Nike hoodie, two-tone grey jacket, grey jogging pants, gloves and a red bandana over his face
  3. Black male, slim build, black hoodie, black jogging pants, mask, medical gloves, carrying a hammer and grey and black backpack
  4. Black male, grey hoodie, black jacket with hood up, black jogging pants, black and blue Nike shoes, gloves and carrying a hammer and over-the-shoulder grey bag with lime green markings

Guelph police continue to investigate and want to hear from any witnesses, including those with video footage.
