Kitchener Rangers win tightly-contested duel against Knights in overtime

The Kitchener Rangers came out on top in a heated Sunday night battle against their bitter rivals, the London Knights.

The Blushirts opened the game at Canada Life Place with three-unanswered goals and led 3-1 to finish the first period.

But, the Knights stormed back to tie the game, and the closely-contested match-up would require overtime.

Just one minute into the extra frame, Rangers forward Adrian Misaljevic found the back of the net to seal a 5-4 overtime win for the visiting team.

“Kitchener was real smart here tonight with their game plan,” said 570’s Colour Commentator Paul Fixter after the game. “They recognized a team that was playing three-in-three, they jumped on them early. London got in late last night, Kitchener jumped out to that three nothing lead. They set the tone early.”

Up next for the Rangers is a game back at The Aud against another rival, the Guelph Storm, on Tuesday.
