The East Avenue Blue are continuing an extended road trip with a swing through Michigan, including a game against the Flint Firebirds on Friday.
The Rangers are coming off a hard fought 5-4 shootout win in Sault Ste. Marie Wednesday night. The Blueshirts erased a three-goal deficit to push the game into overtime.
Rangers rookie goaltender Jason Schaubel was perfect in the extra frame and made 13 of 15 stops in the shootout before Kitchener winger Chris Grisolia got the eventual winner.
Kitchener is now riding a four-game win streak and have victories in seven of their last ten.
The hot streak has closed the gap atop the OHL standings. The London Knights still lead with 75 points. The Rangers are right behind them with 72 and a match-up between the two clubs looming this coming Tuesday.
The Firebirds on the other hand have struggled of late, dropping seven of their last 10. However, they did pick-up a victory over Brampton on Saturday night. They sit 11th overall.
After tonight, the Rangers travel to Saginaw for a date with the Spirit before crossing the border ahead of the Tuesday tilt in the Forest City.
Game time tonight is 7 o’clock,
Mike Farwell and Paul Fixter will have all the action on 570 NewsRadio beginning with the pregame show at 6:30 pm.
