Two more charged in connection to kidnapping, death of Kitchener man

Police charged two more people in connection to the death of a Kitchener man in 2019.

The Wellington County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged Mathew Drumond, 38, of London, Ont. and Jessica Martin, 35, of North Perth with multiple offences including first-degree murder and kidnapping.

Drumond faces:

  • First degree murder, section 465(1)(c)
  • Conspiracy to commit indictable offence, section 235(1)

Martin faces:

  • First degree murder, section 235(1)
  • Kidnapping, section 279(1)(a)
  • Obstruct justice, section 139(1) – three counts
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, section 354(1)(a) – two counts

The accused are set to make a court appearance in Guelph on Feb. 3. The pair are the fourth and fifth arrests in connection to the case.

In March 2019, Brown was abducted from the Harriston Cemetery in Harriston, Ont., north of Elmira.

His body was found the next day by Durham Region Police, north of Whitby on Stevenson Road.

In November 2023, police charged two suspects in connection with the investigation, identified as Joshua Alexander Drumond, 32, from Edmonton and Steven Jon Walsom-Gerigs, 33, from Brantford.

In June 2024, OPP charged a 30-year-old man from north Wellington, Travis Willard Wand.
