It’s a new chapter for library access in Kitchener as two community centres are now equipped with library lockers.
The lockers are located at the Victoria Hills and Chandler Mowat community centres and people can browse, borrow and return books from the Kitchener Public Library (KPL).
Readers can either pick items online ahead of time and select one of the community centres as their “hold pick-up” location. They’ll get a notification when their order is ready and they can grab it from their assigned locker.
The other option is heading directly to the community centre and selecting an item from the small on-site browsing collection.
Any of the borrowed books can be returned via the lockers, or through a KPL branch.
The pilot program is a partnership between the KPL and the City of Kitchener as part of efforts to expand library service to neighbourhoods with less access.
