Police locate stolen vehicle with weapon and drugs inside

A 43-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman from Thunder Bay have been charged with numerous offences after a stolen 2023 Toyota Tundra was found with weapons, drugs and other suspicious items inside.

The vehicle was spotted in a hotel parking lot on Hespeler Rd. in Cambridge during a proactive patrol at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 24. Through investigation, police determined the vehicle had been stolen from Toronto in a reprogramming theft.

When police observed two individuals approach the vehicle, they were both placed under arrest.

A search of the vehicle uncovered suspected fentanyl, hydromorphone and methamphetamine. A sawed-off shotgun, three edged weapons, ammunition, multiple cellphones and reprogrammable keys were also seized.

The male has also been charged with two counts of possession of device for purpose of committing theft, and possession of a firearm or weapon, contrary to prohibition order.

Both suspects are being held in custody for a bail hearing.
