There’s been a big shake up at the Waterloo Region District School Board.

An email is circulating on social media that states jeewan chanicka is no longer the board’s director of education.

The email is an “all staff notice” about a leadership update and reads, “Please be advised that jeewan chanicka is no longer the director of education of the Waterloo Region District School Board.”

The email goes on to thank chanicka for his leadership and contributions, and wishes him the best in his future endeavours.

It also names Scott Miller as the interim director of education for the public school board.

The board isn’t confirming or denying the news, but a WRDSB spokesperson told CityNews Kitchener they cannot comment.

chanicka had been the board’s director of education since August of 2021.
