It’s a classic Western Conference match-up at the Auditorium tonight as the Kitchener Rangers welcome the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
The last time these two clubs met, Hounds winger Travis Hayes had the game-winner in the shootout, lifting The Soo over Kitchener 5-4.
That was the last time the Rangers registered a loss. Since the Oct.11 loss, the East Avenue Blue have rattled off nine wins a row, lifting them to first overall in the league, one point ahead of second-place Windsor.
The Hounds meantime, have won seven of their last 10 and sit in second in West Division, seven points back of the Spitfires.
The Rangers were able to push their win streak to nine games thanks to the solid play of netminder Jackson Parsons last weekend.
The overager was named OHL Goaltender of the Week on the back of a pair of wins, while posting a 1.50 GAA and a .952 SV%
It looks as though the Canadian Hockey League has finally taken notice of the Rangers. They moved into 7th spot on the CHL Top 10 rankings. Their first time making the list this season. Their hot play has also helped them leapfrog into 3rd on the OHL Power Rankings.
It’s a busy weekend for Blueshirts with three games in three nights.
After tonight, they travel to Owen Sound to take on the Attack, Saturday night. Then off to Oshawa for a Sunday match-up with the Generals.
Game time tonight at the Kitchener Auditorium is 7:00 PM.
Mike Farwell and Paul Fixter bring you all the action on 570 NewsRadio beginning with the pre-game show at 6:30 PM.
