Rangers extend winning streak to eight games with win over Sudbury

The Kitchener Rangers extend their point streak to 13 games and their winning streak to eight games with a 8-4 victory over the visiting Sudbury Wolves.

Captain Matthew Andonovski started off the scoring for the Rangers with his first goal of the season. Kitchener held the lead early 3-1 after 20 minutes. Adrian Misaljevic scored his first OHL hat trick and set a career high in points with six; three assists to go with his three goals.

570 colour commentator Paul Fixter applauded Misaljevic’s performance, saying he has first foot on the gas pedal.

“He’s on a mission to be recognized as a dominate player in this league who can graduate and go play pro hockey next year,” said Fixter. “He has personal goals set and he’s achieving them.”

The Rangers currently sit atop the OHL standings with 24 points and a record of 11-2-1-1.

The Rangers will face a stiff challenge on Sunday afternoon when they welcome the reigning Memorial Cup champions, the Saginaw Spirit, to face them for the second time this season. Kitchener won their last match up back in October 7-4.

Puck drop is at 2 p.m. and you can catch all the action on 570 news radio starting at 1:30pm with the pregame show with Mike Farwell and Paul Fixter.
