50-year-old charged in brazen downtown Guelph stabbing

Guelph police have charged a 50-year-old man from Guelph after he stabbed another man over a disagreement involving an electric scooter.
The incident happened just before 11 a.m. Thursday morning at an address in the area of Wyndham Street North and Woolwich Street.
Police said the 50-year-old stabbed a 41-year-old man, also from Guelph in the neck causing him to bleed heavily.
He received care at a nearby medical building where the staff then called 911.
He was then taken to a hospital in Hamilton for treatment of serious injuries, though police have said he is in stable condition.
The 50-year-old was located nearby two hours later at St. George’s Square and was taken into police custody.
He is facing charges of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
He was then held by police for a bail hearing.
