Kitchener Rangers extend point streak to 11 games with sweep of Erie Otters

The Kitchener Rangers have now won six in a row as they return home with the win over the Erie Otters 4-3 in overtime.

Erie would get on the board first with a goal by Pano Fimis with 28 seconds to go in the first period. The lead would not last long as Luke Ellinas scored a shorthanded goal in the late frame of the second period to tie the game at 1-1.

The Rangers and the Otters would exchange goals back and forth in the third period before taking it to overtime, where Adrian Misaljevic sealed the deal for Kitchener less than a minute into the period. Misaljevic had two goals on the night and now has nine on the season.

570 colour commentator Paul Fixter said the special teams did a “tremendous job” during four power play attempts by Erie, including two five minute majors.

“In the two majors, they only gave up one goal,” said Fixter. He also applauded forward Luco Romano, who recorded three points in Saturday’s contest.

“He had three assists in the playoffs last year and he had a goal and two assists tonight. He had a heck of a game here.”

Kitchener now sits in second place overall in the OHL, behind the Windsor Spitfires. They are also in second place in the Western Conference and first in the Midwest Division.

The Rangers will be back home on Tuesday to face the Sarnia Sting for their Halloween-themed night to start off a four game homestead over the next week and half.

Puck drop is at 7 p.m., and you can hear all the action on 570 News Radio starting at 6:30 p.m. with the Rangers Pregame Show with Mike Farwell and Paul Fixter.
