A 61-year-old woman is dead after a collision at a Wilmot intersection on Thursday night.
According to Waterloo Regional Police, the incident took place around 9:20 p.m. at the intersection of Bleams Road and Nafziger Road in Wilmot Township.
A Ford Expedition was heading south on Nafziger Road when it collided with another vehicle, a Hyundai Santa Fe, who was travelling west on Bleams Road.
The driver of the Expedition, a 55-year-old man from Exeter, was ejected from the vehicle upon impact and taken to an out-of-region hospital with ‘significant’ injuries.
The driver of the Santa Fe, a 60-year-old man from Zurich, was also taken to an out-of-region hospital. The passenger, a 61-year-old woman, also from Zurich, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The intersection was closed for a number of hours while police investigated. Police say charges are anticipated, and they’re asking any witnesses to contact them.
