Friends raising funds to help repatriate Conestoga College student killed in crash

Friends of Kamini Gill have launched a GoFundMe campaign to help raise money to send her body home to her family.

Gill, originally from India, was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Wellesley Township last week.

The 23-year-old was a student at Conestoga College, described on the fundraising page as a “beacon of light in the lives of everyone who knew her.”

Friends describe Gill as kind, caring, full of laughter and always there for others.

The fundraiser has set a goal of $25,000 dollars to cover the costs of repatriating her body from Canada to India, as well other costs associated with her funeral.

Details on the fundraiser say Gill’s family would be facing significant financial hardship without help from her friends and the community.

On Monday, Sept. 23, a Tesla and Dodge Ram pick-up truck collided at the intersection of Hessen Strasse and Greenwood Hill Road in Wellesley Township.

The driver and one of the passengers in the Tesla were pronounced dead at the scene. A third passenger was pronounced dead in hospital.

A fourth passenger was treated for injuries in an out of region hospital.

The two occupants of the pick-up truck suffered non-life threatening injuries.
