‘Food Bank Fellas’ aim big in support of local food bank

Supporting a good cause is an admirable thing to do, but it has a deeper meaning for some.

Peter Beutler and Ryan Hammar are a pair of locals to Waterloo Region, and they form a duo that is known as the ‘Food Bank Fellas.’ They team up to help support the Food Bank of Waterloo Region, but there is a meaningful motivation for them, and it comes from their own life experiences.

“There’s never been more need for it than there is right now,” said Beutler, on Tuesday, when asked about their motivation for helping out, while joining the Mike Farwell Show. “Ryan Hammar and myself, our families have used food banks in the past, and we recognize the need.”

Last year, the duo raised enough money to help distribute over 16-thousand meals through the Food Bank of Waterloo Region, but this year they’re aspiring to do more.

The Food Bank Fellas have a goal of raising a total of $15,000 in donations, or 30,000 meals by December 17th.

“A goal of 30,000 meals is definitely a lofty one, but I think we can do it,” said Hammar, on Tuesdays edition of the Mike Farwell show. “I’m in my office right now looking at the plaque the food bank gave us, and it say 16,066 meals donated last year… so why not double it?”

Beutler and Hammar are targeting to reach their goal by December 17, as they hope to help out those in need before the Christmas Holiday.
