Teen arrested following assault and carjacking in Kitchener

Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) say they have arrested and charged a youth in a carjacking incident on March 2, 2025.

Police say they responded to an alleged carjacking around 5 p.m. near Block Line Rd & Courtland Ave E.

Following an investigation, WRPS learned the male teen approached the victim in a parking lot, assaulted them and stole their vehicle.

That vehicle was tracked all the way to Stratford where officers in the Stratford Police Service made an arrest about an hour after the robbery.

Police say no physical injuries were reported in this incident.

A 17-year-old male from Kitchener was charged with the following:

  • Robbery with violence
  • Moto vehicle theft

The suspect was also arrested for breaking probation. He remains in custody for a bail hearing.

The name of the accused can not be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

In January, a 26-year-old Kitchener man was charged with robbery with a weapon and robbery with violence after carjacking.

It’s alleged a Cambridge woman was sitting in her parked car when a man hopped into her front passenger seat and threatened her with a knife.

She was able to get out safely and was unharmed, although the suspect drove away in her Honda Civic.

In the overnight hours, police responded to a gas station in the Bleams Road and Homer Watson Boulevard area for reports of a robbery in-progress.

Officers learned a male suspect threatened an employee and demanded money. That suspect drove away in a Honda Civic which investigators determined was the same stolen car stolen hours earlier.
