KW Siskins to honour memory of long-time volunteer

By Matt Hutcheson

If you have attended a KW Siskins Junior B hockey game in the last 40 years, you’ve likely crossed paths with Harvey Huber.

Harvey and his wife Theresa began working with the Siskins in the 1984-85 season – and over the decades, he held a variety of positions including team president, vice president and as a member of the board.

For decades, Harvey and Theresa opened their homes as billet parents, helping to shape teenagers into professional hockey players and young men.

Harvey was the first to organize the fan bus that brought Siskins faithful on the road.

In the last several years, Harvey was the volunteer group leader – and when he wasn’t at the rink, Harvey was crane operator at G&A Masonry in Breslau.

Sadly, Harvey passed away suddenly on April 16, 2024 at the age of 78.

The Siskins will dedicate the game on Sunday, September 22, to Harvey’s memory.

Game time at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex is 1:30 p.m.
