Victim robbed at gunpoint in North Dumfries

By Erin Anderson

It’s another case of a buy and sell exchange gone wrong as a victim who travelled to North Dumries to purchase a car was robbed at gunpoint.

According to Waterloo Regional Police, the victim came to Waterloo Region on Thurssday to buy a vehicle they had seen advertised online. The individual met up with the alleged male seller, who then took them to a second location, where a second male was picked up.

That’s when things took a turn as the victim was allegedly threated with a gun and had their personal property and cash stolen.

The victim was not hurt and the two men fled in a grey, four-door sedan.

The two suspects are described as light-skinned Middle Eastern men, between 30 and 40 years old, and were wearing black baseball caps; one had a medical mask on.

Any witnesses who were in the Cheese Factory Road and Waynco Road area of North Dumfries between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 22 is asked to contact Waterloo Regional Police at 519-570-9777 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.

Police are also reminding the public to use one of their buy and sell exchange zones, located outside police divisions, when meeting up with strangers.
