Minor injuries after armed robbery at Bridgeport plaza in Waterloo

An alleged thief confronted and a knife was drawn during an incident at a busy Waterloo shopping plaza.

It was around 3:00 in the afternoon on Thursday when police responded to the Bridgeport Road East and Weber Street North area for a reported disturbance.

It’s alleged a man was attempting to steal goods from a store when he was verbally confronted, resulting in him pulling a knife toward a number of victims.

One victim was assaulted during the argument, suffering minor injuries. The suspect is said to have fled the area before police arrived on scene.

He is described as a white man, between 40-50 years of age with a scruffy grey beard. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and black shoes, along with black sunglasses and a blue backpack.

The investigation is still ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
