WRPS assist Ottawa police in child luring case; more victims possible

Police arrested an Ottawa man following an investigation that was initiative by Waterloo Regional Police Service in December 2023.

On Thursday, Ottawa police’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit and some of the force’s forensic sections executed a warrant at a residence in the east end of the nation’s capital.

Francis Theoret, 33, was charged with:

  • Luring a person under 18 years of age by means of telecommunication
  • Make child pornography
  • Unlawfully possess child pornography
  • Transmit sexually explicit material to person under or believed under 18 years for specific criminal offences

After the investigation, officials believe there could be more victims. They are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Theoret is known to use screen names alexdagodd, alexfitness223 and localtrapp3rr.

Police say Theoret is scheduled to appear in an Ottawa court on Friday.
