Speed camera in Wilmot Township taken down for a fourth time

It happened again.

A speed camera outside of Sir Adam Beck Public School in Baden has been damaged for a fourth time. The camera appeared to have been knocked down at the base of its post. Regional police have previously told CityNews 570 the camera has been targeted three other times since July 2023.

The same camera has been targeted multiple times over the last year. Last July, the camera had its sensor covered in spray paint, followed by it being cut down in September. Not even two weeks after it was put back up, it was sprayed painted over again before being cut down for a second time in December 2023.

The speed limit on that road is normally 60 km/h, but is reduced to 40km/h between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. between September and June.

CityNews 570 has reached out to Waterloo Regional Police for comment.
