Fischer-Hallman/Bearinger Road improvements in Waterloo this summer

Big changes are coming to the Fischer-Hallman/Bearinger Road area over the next year, and it starts this summer.

Lane closures started this week on Fischer-Hallman Road in the Columbia Street West and Westmount Road North.

The nearly $11.6 million road improvement project will be done in two stages.

Stage one is now underway.

The focus will shift to Bearinger Road in May 2025, and then paving in planned for 2026.

The Bearinger Road phase will see a portion of that roadway closed between May and December next year.

A detour will direct traffic to Columbia Street, Westmount Road, and Laurelwood Drive.

So what is changing in the area?

The Region of Waterloo says the project will focus on widening the roadways in the area, adding multi-use paths along both sides of the road, improved lighting, transit facilities and storm water management and watermain improvements.
